we also know the obama administration has been briefed on what has taken place here in west, texas. they are aware of the situation and monitoring the situation. the human toll, early estimates are that hundreds have been injured. officials are confirming that there are fatalities. however, they have not given a number of fatalities at this time. as charles hadlock just reported, this is a small town so they would not be equipped to handle the number of injured themselves. we have reports that a number of people have gone to waco, texas. they are reporting they are treating a number of burn injuries, which would be consistent with the nature of this kind of explosion. in terms of some other effects of this devastating blast, officials have closed i-35. that is the main interstate into and out of west, texas. they have also issued a no-fly zone of a three-mile radius around that area. the concern is of a secondary explosion taking place, which of course could affect aircraft. there are also concerns about toxic fumes. parts of the area have been evacuated for those same reasons. the
